The Uniondale Fire Department marked a century of service with a lively parade and celebration on the afternoon of September 28th, 2024. The procession began at the intersection of Park and Uniondale Avenues and marched up Uniondale Avenue, culminating at the Van Ness firehouse.
The event was a testament to the Department’s dedication, with a strong turnout from local residents and supporters. Following the parade, a ceremony was held inside the firehouse where Chief of Department George Martinez, alongside Assistant Chiefs Hicks and Rodriguez, received proclamations recognizing their leadership. The evening wrapped up with a festive block party behind the firehouse, where the community gathered to celebrate. Tracey Edwards, Senior Vice President at Sands New York, praised the turnout, saying, “It was inspiring to see so many young people and families come together to honor Uniondale’s true local heroes. The Fire Department’s legacy of service and dedication to this community is an example for all of us.
